Welcome to The Farm's Blog!
Where do I begin? I'll start by thanking you for checking out my page! I started this journey a few years ago when I decided I wanted to know more about where our family's food comes from. I did tons of research and spoke to many local and nationwide homesteaders to gain more knowledge of what I was about to dive head first into. :-)
I'm not totally in the dark when it comes to the whole dynamic of processing your own foods since Justin hunts and fishes and we [he] processes his own game meat. But that was the extent of my knowledge in the beginning.

And So The Journey Begins...
I started off with three chickens my (at this time) boyfriend's parents gave me. That quickly grew, as I'm sure most of my fellow chicken people know, in to a small flock of an undefined number of chickens at any given time.
Probably one of the coolest things was collecting the eggs and knowing that OUR birdies gave these awesome eggs up just for us! My obsession begins...
This is where I get a little crazy- A couple brown and white egg layers were cool, but I wanted green and blue and chocolate colored eggs too. So, I found some local breeders and acquired some "fancy" breeds. Throughout the next few years I discovered how and what to breed to create my own "custom" colored olive shades of eggs. No two were ever alike. Super cool!
Long story short, I had some very cool chickens that laid rainbow eggs and they so kindly gave enough to not only feed our family but also some friends, relatives and a couple locals.
I had just gained my first set of customers who frequently asked what I would be coming up with next... 🤔💭
